Our vision.
Core principles
01. Circular Economy
A circular economy focuses on repurposing, reusing, and reprocessing what is currently considered waste, turning it into valuable resources. By doing so, it reduces the strain on nature, people, and the planet. This shift encourages us to rethink how we consume, design, and interact with the world around us, fostering a more sustainable and responsible future.
02. Comprehensive
Being comprehensive means addressing every aspect of the community's needs. We start with soil health and food sustainability, then expand into other vital areas like renewable energy, transportation, and even local currency. Our goal is to create a holistic, interconnected approach to building a more resilient, sustainable community.
03. Inclusive & Integral
We are committed to meeting the needs of all community members by offering our services and products in accessible, welcoming ways. Being integral means recognizing the complexity of both our inner and outer lives, while understanding and respecting the interconnected living systems we are all part of. We strive to create solutions that honor this interconnectedness and foster inclusivity for all.
04. Distributed
Distribution is about creating systems that are accessible and beneficial to the entire community. By building hyper-local, self-organizing sites across Frome, we empower people to take control and reduce the negative impacts of centralization. Our goal is to foster resilience, independence, and shared responsibility throughout the community.
05. Local-Global
By building a regenerative community model that can be replicated, we aim to drive genuine grassroots systems change. We are committed to creating impact at the local level while collaborating with organizations nationally and internationally to amplify this change and inspire broader transformation.
Who is Loop?
We are a regeneration network focused on turning misplaced resources into opportunities for growth.
At Loop, our mission is to be a leading catalyst in creating a new, local circular economy by reimagining the key systems within our community. Our primary service focuses on soil health—turning food waste, which would otherwise leave Frome’s economy, into rich, living compost. This process redirects vital nutrients back into the soil, healing the land, supporting ecosystems, and strengthening the interconnected microbiomes that sustain us all.
What Does Loop Do?
We offer a weekly food waste collection service for businesses in Frome, turning what would be waste into valuable compost that nourishes our local environment. We are also working to create a network of compost creation stations throughout the town, making composting more accessible for everyone.
In addition, we provide zero-emissions deliveries of our living compost and other goods using electric trikes, helping to reduce our carbon footprint while keeping our services efficient and eco-friendly. While also piloting other services such as cardboard collection.
As proud members of the Mycelium Composting Network, we’re part of a growing collective co-creating a composting revolution. Looking ahead, we aim to collaborate on new models, ideas, and regenerative practices that can expand beyond composting, creating positive impact both locally and globally.
“The ground's generosity takes in our compost and grows beauty! Try to be more like the ground.”
— Rumi
Why Loop?
At the heart of Loop:Frome is the idea of loops—the circular economy in action. This economic model doesn’t just up-cycle, it transforms and regenerates. Our work turning food waste into living compost is a perfect example of this philosophy in practice.
When we start valuing our waste, it starts giving back. Rather than letting valuable resources slip through our fingers and paying to send them to landfills, we can retain them, creating new streams of untapped potential for our communities.
Starting from the Ground Up
Soil health is in crisis—and it’s one of the most urgent issues we face today. Often, food waste is incinerated or turned into low-quality “compost,” which lacks the nutrients and microorganisms that could otherwise enrich our soil. Instead of being nourished, our land is depleted.
In the face of the climate and ecological crises, every step we take towards personal, collective, and planetary well-being is crucial. In other words, the Loopier the better.
